This portrait of blues legend John Lee Hooker is part of a series of musicians that I have painted. It was painted with a brush and ink on an illustration board with the orange being added in photoshop.
The composition is stark and bare, much like John Lee's music. He is captured here in a moment of musical bliss, lost in the note he is playing. A true blues man.
